Intellectual property

Totality of rights over the creations of the mind referring to: literary, artistic and scientific works, performing artists and their performances and executing artists in their executions, phonograms, and radio broadcasts, inventions in all the fields of human activities, scientific discoveries, industrial drafts and models, comercial names and labels, indications of source, protection against unfair competition, as well as rights related to the intellectual activity in industrial, scientific, literary and artistic fields.

The protection of intellectual property is governed mainly by the Paris Convention for the protection of industrial property, 1883, the Berne convention for protection of literary and artistic works, 1886, as well as by other conventions, treaties or international agreements (i.e. TRIP's, Convention on European patent, Madrid Agreement and the Protocol of the Madrid agreement concerning the international registration of marks, NAFTA Treaty a.o.)
